SHORT HISTORY

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Ovidius University of Constanța was established as part of the university's mission to expand its medical education offerings. Since its inception, the faculty has focused on providing a high-quality education that combines both traditional pharmaceutical knowledge and modern scientific advancements. The faculty has developed a strong reputation for its rigorous curriculum, research initiatives, and commitment to producing highly qualified pharmacists. Over the years, the faculty has become a key component of Ovidius University's contribution to healthcare education, serving both local and international students. It continues to evolve, adapting to the latest developments in pharmaceutical sciences and maintaining its dedication to excellence in teaching, research, and community service.

1. Mission of the University

The Faculty of Pharmacy is committed to providing high-quality education and fostering the development of skilled pharmacy professionals. The mission includes promoting a fair and competitive admission process that supports a diverse and multicultural academic environment.

3. Admission Process Description

3.1 General Conditions

Eligibility:

  • The admission competition for the Pharmacy Study Program is open to both Romanian and foreign candidates, including those from EU Member States, the European Economic Area (EEA), and the Swiss Confederation.

  • The study program has a duration of 5 years and includes 300 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits.

Examination Format:

  • The admission test is a written exam consisting of multiple-choice questions.

  • The test is divided into two sections:

    • Biology (11th grade level): 50 questions.

    • Organic Chemistry (10th and 11th grade levels): 50 questions.

  • The test content is derived from the textbooks used for the 2021 high school graduates and will be available on the Faculty of Pharmacy’s website 6 months before the exam date.

Ranking and Tie-Breakers:

  • Candidates are ranked based on their test scores, in descending order, within the limit of available places.

  • In case of a tie, candidates will be differentiated by:

    1. The average grade obtained in the Baccalaureate exam (or its equivalent).

    2. For Romanian candidates, the average grade in Romanian at the Baccalaureate exam; for EU candidates, the score from the Romanian language proficiency certificate.

3.2 Admission Process for Non-EU Foreign Nationals

Application Criteria:

  • Non-EU candidates applying for admission at their own expense (paying tuition in foreign currency) will be ranked based on an analysis of their competition files.

Ranking Criteria:

International Baccalaureate (IB) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) A level or O level: 30 points.

Baccalaureate Exam Average:

  • 60-69%: 5 points.

  • 70-79%: 10 points.

  • 80-89%: 15 points.

  • 90-100%: 20 points.

Subject-Specific Tests: 10 points for each Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics test taken in the Baccalaureate exam.

Tie-Breakers for Non-EU Nationals:

  • Highest Baccalaureate score according to the ranking criteria.

  • Highest cumulative score in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics tests in the Baccalaureate exam.

5. Students' Enrollment

Enrollment Requirements:

  • Enroll within the specified period after receiving acceptance.

  • Non-EU citizens must obtain a study visa.

  • Submit original documents, including the Baccalaureate diploma, academic transcripts, and proof of tuition fee payment.

6. Final Dispositions

  • The admission process is subject to changes based on the Ministry of Education's regulations. Candidates must stay informed about any updates.
