Medical University of Sofia offer courses in Bulgarian and English language.

The six-year programs in Medicine and Dentistry, as well as the five-year Pharmacy course, are priced start at €6000 - €9000 approx per year.

There are limited seats available, with 200 for Medicine and 70 for Dentistry. The university continually updates its curriculum in line with European standards, incorporating new disciplines like Biomaterials, Bioequipments, Implantology, Management, and Dental Aesthetics.

2. What does the six-year Medicine program entail?

  • The Medicine program extends over six years, comprising 10 semesters of English-medium instruction.

  • The initial two years prioritize pre-clinical studies and theoretical groundwork, followed by three years dedicated to clinical training.

  • The final year involves a 310-day internship, during which students undertake medical rotations and sit for state licensing exams.

  • Summer practical internships are mandatory for students during the second to fourth years of the program.

  • Upon meeting all academic requirements, completing the internship, and passing state exams, students earn the title of Physician or Doctor of Medicine (MD) along with a globally recognized Master’s degree.

  • Graduates often choose to either remain in Bulgaria for career advancement, return to their home countries, or explore opportunities abroad.

3. Documents Required for Applying

Candidates are required to submit the following documents:

  • Completed application form including brief biographical data, educational history and any courses for which the candidate is applying

  • Copy of a diploma confirming completion of secondary education, with an academic transcript stating the disciplines studied

  • Document issued by relevant authorities which certifies the right to continue education in higher schools and universities in the country of origin of the secondary school attended by the candidate

  • Health certificate issued no more than one month prior to application and verified in the country from which the candidate is applying

  • Two 4-5cm photographs

  • The diploma, academic transcript and health certificate must be translated into Bulgarian and legalised as per official state directives.

For admission to MU Sofia, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Pass the national medical admission test in Biology and Chemistry.

  • Attain a minimum of 65% in high school qualifications, including Biology and Chemistry.
