Medical University of Varna offers courses in both English and Bulgarian.

The six-year programs in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Public Health, as well as the five-year Pharmacy course, are priced at € 9000 approx per year.

There are limited seats available, with 200 for Medicine and 70 for Dentistry. The university continually updates its curriculum in line with European standards, incorporating new disciplines like Biomaterials, Bioequipments, Implantology, Management, and Dental Aesthetics.

Varna Medical University offers a six-year program covering foundational subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry in the first three years. The following three years focus on clinical aspects, including surgery and preventative medicine, with hands-on training in hospitals and clinics. 2. What does the six-year Medicine program entail?

  • The Medicine program extends over six years, covering 10 semesters of academic training, and is conducted entirely in English.

  • The first two years focus on pre-clinical study and theory, while the subsequent three years emphasize clinical study.

  • The final year consists of a 310-day internship involving medical rotations before graduation, during which students must pass state exams for licensing.

  • Mandatory summer practical internships are undertaken in years 2-4 of the program.

  • Upon meeting academic requirements, completing the final-year internship, and passing state exams, students earn the professional title of Physician or Doctor of Medicine (MD) and receive a globally recognized Master’s degree.

  • Post-graduation, some graduates choose to pursue their medical careers in Bulgaria, while others may return to their home countries or seek opportunities elsewhere.

Applicants are required to provide the following documentation:

  1. A duly completed application form, including brief biographical information, educational background, and details of the courses applied for.

  2. A certified copy of the secondary education diploma, accompanied by an academic transcript detailing the disciplines studied.

  3. A document issued by relevant authorities certifying the candidate's eligibility to pursue higher education in their country of origin.

  4. A health certificate issued no more than one month prior to the application date, authenticated in the candidate's country of application.

  5. Two passport-sized photographs measuring 4-5cm each.

Furthermore, the diploma, academic transcript, and health certificate must undergo translation into Bulgarian and legalization as per official state directives.

  • Pass the national medical admission test in Biology and Chemistry.
