Plovdiv Medical University offers courses in both English and Bulgarian.

The six-year programs in Medicine and Dentistry, as well as the five-year Pharmacy course, are priced start at € 9000 approx per year.

There are limited seats available, with 200 for Medicine and 70 for Dentistry. The university continually updates its curriculum in line with European standards, incorporating new disciplines like Biomaterials, Bioequipments, Implantology, Management, and Dental Aesthetics.

2. What does the six-year Medicine program entail?

  • The Medicine program extends over six years, encompassing 10 semesters of academic instruction, and is conducted entirely in English.

  • The initial two years of the curriculum emphasize pre-clinical studies and theoretical foundations, followed by three years predominantly focused on clinical training.

  • The concluding year of the program involves a 310-day internship comprising medical rotations prior to graduation. During this internship, students are required to undergo state licensing exams.

  • Additionally, students are mandated to complete mandatory summer practical internships during the second to fourth years of their studies.

  • Upon fulfilling the academic requirements and completing the final-year internship, along with successfully passing state exams, students are conferred the professional title of Physician or Doctor of Medicine (MD) and awarded a widely recognized Master’s degree.

  • Many graduates opt to remain in Bulgaria post-graduation to pursue their medical careers, while others may return to their home countries or seek opportunities elsewhere.

Applicants are required to provide the following documents:

  1. A completed application form containing personal information, educational background, and details regarding the desired courses of study.

  2. A copy of the secondary education diploma, accompanied by an academic transcript detailing the subjects studied.

  3. Documentation issued by the relevant authorities affirming the candidate's eligibility to pursue higher education in their country of secondary education.

  4. A health certificate obtained no more than one month before the application date, authenticated in the candidate's country of application.

  5. Two passport-sized photographs measuring 4-5cm each.

Furthermore, the diploma, academic transcript, and health certificate must undergo translation into Bulgarian and legalization in accordance with official state regulations.

For admission to MU Plovdiv, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Pass the national medical admission test in Biology and Chemistry.

  • Attain a minimum of 65% in high school qualifications, including Biology and Chemistry.
