It is with great pleasure and pride that I welcome you to the Faculty of Pharmacy at "Grigore T. Popa" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi.
Our faculty has a rich history rooted in the esteemed traditions of Romanian and European medical education. Over the years, we have undergone several transformative stages, always guided by a sense of responsibility and dedication to our academic community, students, and faculty members. Our goal has been clear: to nurture generations of pharmacists capable of meeting the evolving needs of society and the healthcare industry.
In the past 8 years, we have undertaken a comprehensive curricular reform to align our programs with the current demands of medical education. This reform has been driven by a commitment to efficiency, competitiveness, and transparency. As a result, we have seen a remarkable increase in the quality of our teaching and learning outcomes, earning international recognition, including the prestigious quality certificate granted by CIDMEF.
Our faculty offers a wide range of nationally accredited degree programs, including Medicine in Romanian, French, and English, General Medical Assistance, and Nutrition and Dietetics. Additionally, we provide flexible Master's programs tailored to meet the dynamic demands of the labor market in Romania and abroad.
At the heart of our academic community is a vibrant research culture. Our faculty members, alongside doctoral and post-doctoral students, engage in cutting-edge research that contributes significantly to our national rankings and advances the field of pharmacy.

SHORT HISTORY
The Faculty of Pharmacy at "Grigore T. Popa" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1879. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious pharmacy faculties in Romania.
Throughout its history, the Faculty of Pharmacy has been committed to excellence in pharmaceutical education, research, and healthcare. It has played a significant role in shaping the pharmaceutical landscape in Romania and beyond.
Over the years, the faculty has evolved to meet the changing needs of the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare sector. It has continuously updated its curriculum, embraced modern teaching methodologies, and fostered collaboration with industry partners and healthcare institutions.

METHODOLOGY FOR UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION COMPETITION AT GRIGORE T. POPA UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY OF IASI, 2024/2025
1. Mission of the University
The admission process for international students at "Grigore T. Popa" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi for the 2024-2025 academic year follows legal guidelines and university regulations. It aims to provide a high-quality education in a supportive and collaborative environment, emphasizing skill development. The process is fair, transparent, and inclusive, fostering a multicultural learning community.
2. Legislation Governing Admission
The admission competition at "Grigore T. Popa" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi for the 2024-2025 academic year adheres to several key regulations, including Higher Education Law no. 199/2023, Ministry of Education Order no. 3473/2017, Government Ordinance no. 22 of August 29, 2009, and Ministry of Education Order no. 3102/08.02.2022. These regulations ensure the integrity and fairness of the admission process for both domestic and international students.
3. Admission Process Description
3.1 General Conditions
In the selection process for international candidates at "Grigore T. Popa" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi, graduates of pre-university high school studies from previous years and candidates in the final year of pre-university high school studies can participate.
Eligible candidates include:
Citizens of EU (excluding Romania) and non-EU member states, for study programs taught in Romanian, English, or French.
Romanian citizens who completed high school studies outside Romania and reside permanently outside Romania, for study programs taught in Romanian, English, or French.
To enroll in the first academic year, admitted candidates must meet the following conditions:
Possess documents proving citizenship.
Hold a baccalaureate diploma or equivalent, as per ME regulations, regardless of the year of graduation.
Submit their application file as per the admission calendar on the website of "Grigore T. Popa" U.M.Ph. within the specified deadline.
Complete all evaluation stages outlined in this Methodology to secure admission to "Grigore T. Popa" U.M.Ph. Iasi.
3.2 Documents Required for Applying
Application Requirements
To request the issuance of the Letter of Acceptance or Recognition/Equivalence Certificate for studies conducted abroad, applicants must provide the following documents:
Legalized copy of academic transcripts for the last two years of pre-university studies, meeting the specified grade criteria.
A certified copy of the birth certificate.
Document proving stable domicile abroad (issued by the local authority).
Copy of passport pages 1-4, or identity card for EU citizens, valid for at least 9 months after the start of the academic year. Multiple passports/identity cards require copies of all documents.
Legalized copy certifying proof of name change if applicable, with a notarized declaration for any name discrepancies on educational documents.
Copy of medical certificate from country of origin or domicile, including assessment of mental state, chronic diseases, contagious diseases, and compatibility with future profession.
Language proficiency certificate at minimum level B2 for chosen study language.
Additional documents for selection purposes, such as volunteer certificates, letters of recommendation, and professional experience documents.
Declaration of conformity for submitted documents, dated and signed by the candidate.
After completing the online registration application, applicants can upload additional documents or revisions only upon request by the verification committee.
3.3 Application Procedure
Candidates can apply directly through our website by accessing the designated application section. Here, applicants will upload the specified scanned documents within the provided timeframe as per the registration calendar.
When applying online, candidates will indicate their preferred Faculty/Faculties and teaching programme(s). If applying for multiple faculties/specializations, applicants should specify their order of preference in the special section.
The admission process calendar for international candidates to our university will be approved and published on our website.
For admission to the academic year 2024-2025, there will be a single registration period: February 5th, 2024 – July 19th, 2024
3.4 Admission Method
The process for applying for the entrance exam is solely online. Only documents submitted through our platform will be reviewed.
First, a committee appointed by the Administrative Board will assess each file for completeness. Complete files will then undergo scientific validation by two evaluators. If there are score discrepancies, the file will be re-evaluated.
Scores for each candidate will be noted in the online application form. Throughout the application period, files will be reviewed weekly, and eligible candidates will be notified. Our website will regularly update the list of eligible candidates.
Once notified, eligible candidates must secure their place by paying a fixed fee of €2,500 within two weeks. Failure to do so will result in rejection, and the place will be offered to the next candidate on the reserve list.
Candidates admitted to a program cannot change their selection. Any false declarations will lead to disqualification from the competition.
3.5 Display of Results and Completion
After evaluating applications, candidates will be ranked by faculty and study program. Provisional lists of potentially admitted candidates will be displayed based on their scores.
Eligible candidates, particularly high school graduates from years preceding 2024, can complete the admission process early by paying the full tuition fee for the first year and uploading required documents. This early completion allows for a longer visa processing time, ensuring enrollment close to the start of the academic year.
The selection outcome cannot be challenged. Candidates declared eligible must upload proof of passing the baccalaureate exam and school transcript within the specified timeframe, or risk losing their eligibility.
Admitted candidates must pay the difference in tuition fees within 5 working days from the announcement of the final list. Failure to do so will result in losing admission status, with the confirmation fee remaining non-refundable.
Refunds of tuition fees are approved only for candidates who fail to obtain acceptance letters or study visas. Candidates on the reserve list will be contacted if admitted candidates do not confirm within 5 days.
Enrollment requires presenting the original Baccalaureate Diploma and acceptance letter or recognition certificate. Failure to do so within the specified timeframe will result in losing admitted status without refund.
4. Obtaining Acceptance Documents
The Letter of Acceptance or Certificate of recognition/equivalence of studies abroad, issued by the Ministry of Education (ME), is mandatory for foreign citizens to access studies at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Grigore T. Popa" in Iasi.
The Rectorate's Secretariat will electronically send the list of potentially admitted candidates, along with their files, to the ME. This facilitates the process of obtaining the necessary documents for enrollment.
The authentication process for study documents subject to recognition or equivalence follows these requirements:
For diplomas from the Republic of Moldova issued before 2008, or after 2008 without verification through the ME portal, an original authenticity certificate from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova is required.
For countries that are parties to the Hague Apostille Convention, such as Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, and Cyprus, educational documents must bear the Hague Apostille. Other EU Member States are exempt from this requirement.
For countries not part of the Hague Apostille Convention, educational documents must be endorsed or accompanied by an authenticity certificate from the competent authorities of the country of origin. Super-legalization is applied by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country and the Embassy/Consular Office of Romania, or vice versa. If there are no diplomatic missions of Romania in the issuing country, the documents will be endorsed by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country.
Accepted documents for enrollment of foreign citizens in undergraduate university studies include:
Italy: Certificate of passing the Italian baccalaureate exam
Spain: Pruebas de Aptitud para el Acceso a la Universidad, calificación Apto
Sweden: Certificate issued by Verket för högskoleservice regarding access to university studies in Sweden
USA: Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or ACT from the USA
5. Students' Enrollment
After receiving the Letter of Acceptance, Certificate of Recognition, or Equivalence of Studies Abroad from the Ministry of Education, candidates have a window of 15 days from the start of the academic year, or later with Board approval, to enroll in their chosen faculty and study program. Missing this deadline will result in the inability to enroll. Withdrawal from student status is only permitted after completing the first semester of the first year.
For third-country EU citizens, registration requires obtaining a study visa from the Romanian Embassy in their home country, based on the Letter of Acceptance issued by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During enrollment, candidates must provide original documents listed in point 3.2, along with their baccalaureate diploma (or equivalent), secondary education transcripts, the Letter of Acceptance (if issued), and proof of full tuition fee payment.
Non-EU citizen candidates declared admitted must present their recognized baccalaureate diploma and the Letter of Acceptance from the Ministry of Education to enroll.
The Faculty Secretariat verifies submitted electronic files against registration documents, any discrepancies may lead to registration cancellation.
Candidates found to have submitted false affidavits will not be enrolled.
6. Final Dispositions
Please note that this methodology is subject to potential changes based on Ministry of Education regulations. Candidates are advised to stay updated on any modifications and adhere to them accordingly.
