1. Methodology

The purpose of this Methodology is to describe the organization and process of the admission exams for Bachelor-level studies at the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Assen Zlatarov University – Burgas.

General Admission Requirements:

Secondary Education: Applicants must have completed secondary education that allows them to apply to higher education institutions in the country where the diploma was obtained.

Subjects Required: Candidates must have studied Biology and Chemistry in their secondary education, with a minimum GPA of 62% in these subjects for non-EU citizens.

Entrance Exams: Foreign students must pass entry exams in Biology and Chemistry, available in English.

Language Requirements:

• For English-language programs, students must demonstrate B1 level English proficiency through a recognized test (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL) or enroll in a preparatory course if they do not meet this requirement.

Required Documents:

1. Secondary School Diploma: Translated into Bulgarian and certified, with grades in Biology and Chemistry.

2. Recognition Certificate: From the Regional Administration of Education, acknowledging the diploma's validity in Bulgaria.

3. Eligibility Certificate: Document certifying the applicant's right to pursue higher education in the country of their secondary education.

4. Passport/ID Copy: Clear copy of the applicant's passport or ID card.

5. Application Form: Filled and signed.

6. Declarations: Consent to personal data processing and declaration of document authenticity.

7. Academic Transcript: Required for students applying for a partial course of study.

Application Deadlines:

• Applications must be submitted according to the deadlines set by the university, ensuring all documents are legalized and translated into Bulgarian as required by international treaties or Bulgarian regulations.

• The Faculty of Medicine offers a six-year program leading to a Master's degree with a professional qualification as a "Doctor." The curriculum is based on uniform state requirements, with a focus on practical training in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, aligned with global educational standards

SHORT HISTORY

The Faculty of Medicine at Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov University was established as part of the university's ongoing mission to expand its educational offerings and address the growing demand for medical professionals in Bulgaria. In 2019, the 44th National Assembly of Bulgaria passed a resolution to create the Faculty of Medicine within the university's structure. It is the only medical faculty in South-Eastern Bulgaria, offering a Master’s degree in Medicine, with a curriculum designed according to the uniform state requirements. The faculty is dedicated to training highly qualified doctors, integrating modern technologies, and fostering a spirit of compassion and innovation.
