DENTAL MEDICINE(DMD)PROGRAM

The Dental Medicine program spans 5.5 years, comprising 10 semesters of academic coursework followed by a 6-month pre-graduate internship.

Years 1–2: Foundational Sciences

Subjects include Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Dental Materials, building a strong biomedical foundation.
Hands-on laboratory sessions focus on essential dental techniques and the application of theoretical concepts.

Years 3–4: Preclinical and Clinical Training

Core subjects include Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Preclinical Prosthetic Dental Medicine, and Clinical Conservative Dental Medicine.
Students transition from preclinical simulations to patient-centred care in university-affiliated clinics.

Year 5: Advanced Specialization

Advanced topics in Orthodontics, Periodontology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Pediatric Dentistry.
Emphasis on diagnostic skills, multidisciplinary treatment planning, and specialized care.

6-Month Pre-Graduate Internship

Duration: 6 months (1014 hours) of intensive clinical rotations.
Focus: Independent patient care under supervision, culminating in state examinations.

Documents Required for Applying

Candidates are required to submit the following documents:

Completed application form including brief biographical data, educational history and any courses for which the candidate is applying
Copy of a diploma confirming completion of secondary education, with an academic transcript stating the disciplines studied
Document issued by relevant authorities which certifies the right to continue education in higher schools and universities in the country of origin of the secondary school attended by the candidate
Health certificate issued no more than one month prior to application and verified in the country from which the candidate is applying
Two 4-5cm photographs
The diploma, academic transcript and health certificate must be translated into Bulgarian and legalised as per official state directives.

Entry Requirements

For admission to MU Sofia, students must meet the following requirements:

Pass the national medical admission test in Biology and Chemistry.
High school Diploma with Completion of Scientific subjects.
