Admission Regulations: The admission of students to all programs in the Faculty of Medicine is governed by the annual regulations for organizing the educational process at Sofia University. Detailed instructions for candidates can be found on the official university website.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Completion of secondary or higher education equivalent to Bulgarian standards.

  • Minimum required grades in relevant subjects, equating to at least 62% of the maximum grade in the applicant’s home country’s grading system (equivalent to a grade of "Good 4" in Bulgaria).

  • No medical conditions that would prevent the successful completion of the chosen field of study.

  • For higher education applicants, recognition of foreign diplomas by Sofia University is required.

Required Documents:

  • Completed application form or letter with a brief CV, specifying the faculty, major, mode of study (full-time or part-time), and proficiency in the Bulgarian language.

  • Original diploma (secondary or higher education) with grades, translated into Bulgarian and legalized.

  • Language proficiency certificate, with a minimum of Upper-intermediate level B2.

  • Copy of passport or identity card with names in the Latin alphabet; dual citizenship holders must also provide copies of their Bulgarian identity documents.

  • Two recent passport-sized photographs.

  • Any additional documents as required by specific programs or entrance exams.

Programs Overview: The Faculty of Medicine provides education in a variety of medical fields, offering both theoretical and practical training. The practical training takes place at University Hospital Lozenetz and the Military Medical Academy.

Application Period:

  • For programs starting in October: Documents must be submitted between July 15 and September 13, 2024.

  • For programs starting in February: Documents must be submitted between October 1, 2024, and January 17, 2025.

Library Resources: The library at University Hospital Lozenetz, established in 1964, provides students with access to over 6,330 medical books and more than 12,700 books in other fields. The facility includes computers, a color copier, scanners, and ample seating for visitors.

Postgraduate Training: The Faculty is accredited for postgraduate training in various clinical and preclinical specialties, with practical training conducted at University Hospital Lozenetz and the Military Medical Academy.
